The HX400 comes with a massive 3200mAh Li-ion battery that will keep you talking for approximately 18 hours. There's no need to worry about how long it takes to fully charge the massive 3200mA battery, as the HX400 comes with a 3-hour rapid charger. The HX400 is factory-programmed with all U.S., Canadian, and international channels, as well as NOAA Weather. It also has the ability to be programmed with 40 land mobile radio channels (137-174 MHz) with CTCSS or DCS signaling through a Standard Horizon dealer. Note: These channels require the corresponding Federal Communications license. The HX400 will exceed all expectations of crystal-clear voice transmissions in noisy and windy environments with the built-in noise-cancelling microphone. There's no need to purchase an optional voice scrambler for secure communications; the HX400 has one built in. The internal scrambler is compatible with Standard Horizon fixed-mount VHF and handheld 4-code VHF scramblers. The HX400 is designed to be heard even in the loudest environments with 700mW of power delivered to the internal speaker. The HX400 ships from the factory preloaded with marine channel usage descriptions (16-distress, 22A-USCG, 71-pleasure). Channel names can be customized by the user to easily understand the usage of each channel. NOAA and Canadian Weather channels are preprogrammed and easily selectable using the dedicated WX key. Additionally, the HX400 can be configured to monitor WX channels and provide an audible alert to inform you of pending storm warnings. Scanning isn't a problem with the HX400. The radio can be set to scan any number of channels, with or without a priority channel, or it can simply be set to scan between one priority channel and another (dual watch). Dedicated key allows you to quickly program and select up to 10 favorite VHF marine or NOAA Weather channels. The display shows a graphical battery bar indicator to inform you of the remaining charge in the lithium-ion battery.
